The Hora Hora Rugby and Sports Club was formed in 1922 and is based at the Hora Hora Domain on Te Mai Road, Whangarei. The club is one of the largest sports clubs in Whangarei and has a proud history of success in the area.
The rugby club has won a number of championships, the most recent in 2008 and 2005. The club also fields a very successful womens rugby and football team and a number of junior rugby, football and netball teams.
The club is known for its family atmosphere and social attitude and their aftermatch feeds are famous in Northland rugby. The club has had a number of All Blacks and NZ Maori players over the years, including Glenn Taylor, Norm Maxwell, Derren Witcombe, Norm Berryman, Doug Te Puni, Warren Johnson, Michael Speight and Nau Cherrington as well as our female All Black Janet Heenan.
