National Jazz Festival
The National Jazz Festival in Tauranga now attracts more than 60,000 people to events during the long Easter weekend and is by far New Zealand's largest Jazz Festival. It is iconic to the people in the Bay of Plenty and was also given flagship status by the council.
It is the annual event in the region that makes people experience a pride of place and is probably the most accessible cultural event in the region appealing to a broad cross-section of the community.
The National Jazz Festival is the longest running Jazz Festival in New Zealand and the southern hemisphere and one of the oldest Jazz Festival in the world! For 50 years the Festival has entertained hundreds of thousands of residents and visitors to the Bay of Plenty region.
