Country music superstar Kenny Rogers is bringing his Through the Years World Tour to New Zealand in 2015 for two dates.

Rogers will perform in Hamilton and Christchurch. As the name suggests, Through the Years World Tour will look at Rogers' work spanning his seven-decade-long career.

Joining the tour as opening acts will be The Bourbon County Brothers, plus guitar legend Gray Bartlett (Hamilton) and Jody Direen (Christchurch).

Rogers was last in New Zealand for a sold out tour in 2012, when he performed in Auckland and Christchurch.

PRESS RELEASE:

Grammy legend, country superstar and contemporary music icon, Kenny Rogers returns to New Zealand this February for two spectacular concerts, as part of his Through The Years World Tour.

Since his sold out 2012 visit, Kenny has been honored with an induction into the American Country Music Hall of Fame (and upcoming biographical Museum exhibition until June 2015) and the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award – his sixth Country Music Association Award. He’s also made his first appearances at Morocco’s world music Festival Timitar and the largest outdoor arts spectacle, the Glastonbury Festival, playing to over one hundred and thirty thousand enthusiastic fans.

Previous prestigious accolades include three Grammy Awards, eighteen American Music Awards, eight Academy of Country Music Awards and sales of more than one hundred and twenty million - one Diamond, twenty Platinum and thirty two Gold albums, making him one of the Top Ten Best Selling Artists of All Time.

Kenny is an enduring artist with a distinctive voice, gift for storytelling and universal appeal. He has consistently sold out venues where he performs from a chart topping catalogue, spanning seven decades and multiple genres including hits such as -
The Gambler, Coward of the County, Reuben James, Lucille, Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town, Lady, She Believes in Me, Islands in the Stream, We've Got Tonight, Daytime Lovers, Sweet Music Man, You Decorated My Life, Buy Me A Rose, I Can’t Unlove You, Through The Years and more.

Kenny’s thirty second studio album released in 2013, You Can’t Make Old Friends, was a magical reunion for the recording of the title track duet with best friend Dolly Parton (only the third time in the studio since their Real Love hit in 1985) and The Gambler songwriter, Don Schlitz. The duet performance garnered a Grammy Award nomination and the album, You Can’t Make Old Friends, scored Kenny his twenty second Top 10 Country Album on the American charts.

As an actor, Kenny starred as Brady Hawkes in The Gambler - five films which became the longest running mini-series franchise on American television and another movie inspired by his hit, Coward of the County.

His autobiography, Luck Or Something Like It - A Memoir, was a New York Times Best Seller on release in 2012 and continues to receive stellar reviews. Kenny has also produced several books of photography and this year, received an Honorary Masters of Photography from the Professional Photographers of America.

Kenny Rogers is the singer, the musician, the songwriter, the photographer, the producer, the actor and of course …The Gambler!

Don’t miss a memorable night with the legendary Kenny Rogers on his Through The Years World Tour, where he will be joined by our own stars, the Bourbon County Brothers, who had impressed audiences so much with their brief tribute to Glen Campbell at Kenny’s shows in 2012 that they were invited back to share their own special brand of country music, plus special guest, guitar legend Gray Bartlett.

Ticketek presale starts August 4 at 9am. Tickets available to the general public on August 8 at 8:30am.
