Samhain Festival - Wheel Of The Year
Hello and welcome to Samhain's Festival!

Kick off for the market will be at 10am, a Koha Jar will be at the front of the market where we would appreciate Koha for entry and a little gift will be given in return. This is a local market with local businesses from new zealand to come together and celebrate together Samhain!

There will be seating areas for people to sit down and relax at and hang around and chill. You can wait for practitioners a the seating as well so please do sit back and relax.

There is also a kids area available with kids quiet activates so the parents can wonder off without worrying about the kids and there is something there to keep them occupied!

Samhain - What is it?

Samhain is what people would traditionally also know as 'halloween'. It is the time where people used to dress up in order to scare the monsters away by not looking like humans. This would range from fae trying to steal people through to shadow men and the sluage.

It was also popular for the windows and doors to be kept open that night once the night had started, believing the veil was at it's thinnest. This meant ancestors were invited to rest and come speak to the living. Cakes and such would often be left out for them at this time.

The whole candy vibe was originated from when trick or treating was first started. This would be celebrated by people dressing up and singing door to door, in exchange for cakes. It was that, or there would be pranks played on each other and blamed on the fae.
