'Between the Waters' - Polish Legacy in NZ Charitable Trust proudly presents a Polish variety concert celebrating two important milestones: 50 years of establishing Polish-New Zealand diplomatic relations and the 130th anniversary of women's suffrage.
Presenting classical music from both cultures and dramatic theatre beyond any culture - the aim is to entertain, showcasing cultural unity between Poland and New Zealand through living and learning.
Concert: Part One:
Variety of works by F. Chopin, H. Wieniawski, K. Szymanowski, D. Lilburn, with a grand finale of two prominent female composers: Polish G. Bacewicz and New Zealander D. Buchanan. Performed by Helena Sowinski (piano) and Laura Barton (CSO, violin) - both of Polish descent, alongside some of Christchurch’s most sought-after musicians. Guest performer: Anna Michajlowicz (piano).
Concert: Part Two:
‘Surreal Life of Dali’ - Polish Drama Theatre ‘Fantazja’ (Sydney).
Written by James Domeyko, inspired by “The Trial of Dali” by Andy Kolo - a wickedly wild surreal comedy-drama about the one and only Salvador Dali!
Adaptation/Music: James Domeyko
Directing: Joanna Borkowska-Surucic and James Domeyko.
The Concert is part of Christchurch Heritage Festival 2023.
Door sale subject to availability / Cash only.
