We are celebrating the start of the Canterbury Film Society 2023 Programme with a bittersweet Iranian road movie: Hit the Road (Panah Panahi • 2021 • 93 mins • Iran • M)
Driving across wide landscapes, a family navigates a road trip full of conflicting emotions. Dad has a broken leg and a mood to match while Mum fusses over her two children and the dog. As the destination draws closer, the claustrophobia in the car grows alongside the love they have for each other. "Hit The Road took me to a country I have never visited, introduced me to people I have never met and made me fall in love. It is a wonderful, pretty much perfect wee gem. Do go and see it."
