THIS EVENT IS CANCELLED
Until the middle of the 20th century, Karangahape Road was the only street in central Auckland with a Māori name, as the road predates European settlement.
Karangahape Road and Symonds Street follow main ridges forming part of an extensive walking route used by Māori to reach the Manukau Harbour. This route was known as Te Ara o Karangahape – The Path of Karangahape.
This walking tour explores mātauranga / knowledge systems, stories, themes, and representations embedded deep within Te Ao Māori / Māori world view, and reflected through an artistic, urban, architectural, contemporary presence within Tāmaki Makaurau.
