The Kita Guitar Trio is Kim Halliday, Russell Hughes and Peter Kirkbride.

Each player has had extensive playing experience and worked in different ensembles over the years. Currently they are performing in Kita Guitar Trio and Gitbox Rebellion, Nigels Gavin's 10 piece guitar orchestra.

Kita Trio was formed in 2018 with a desire to perform Gypsy swing jazz music. After stepping out for its 1st public performance at 121 café in Ponsonby where the trio was received with a chorus of “ More! More!” from the appreciative audience, they went on to perform before 'Gitbox Rebellion', Nigel Gavin’s 10 piece guitar orchestra.

Russell Hughes and Kim Halliday are founding members of Gitbox and were also involved in Guitar Craft courses with Robert Fripp. Kim’s Trio 'Pacific Curls' was a highly successful touring band which toured the globe for 11 years performing with critical acclaim and producing 6 albums. Kim has been involved in 15 bands and over 35 recorded works, as well as being commissioned by dance companies and theatre companies for her composition skills.

Peter Kirkbride has performed in various and varied lineups, he has mastered a wide range of musical styles and was involved with Superbrew, Diatribe and Fables of Faubus, he is currently performing with Jubaliation [an acapella group] and is also a member of Gitbox Rebellion. Russell Hughes took part in the 1st course in NZ with Robert Fripp, he was also heavily involved in the recording of the 2 albums Gitbox produced. He has had a variety of musical groups and travelled to New York to further his studies with Robert. He is currently in Gitbox and Kita Guitar Trio.
