This Conservation Week (Te Wiki Tiati Ao Tūroa) Auckland Zoo invites you and your whanau to come and share your aroha for Aotearoa’s awesome wildlife and discover more about how you can help nature in your own backyard!

On arrival, pick up an activity sheet and make your way to our New Zealand precinct, Te Wao Nui, where you’ll find more than 50 unique native taonga across six stunning habitats. Be sure to also get along to daily talks focused on our native wildlife – a chance to see these taonga up close and chat to our friendly and passionate keepers.

Weekend celebrations:
2019 is the 50th year of Conservation Week and is being celebrated with the theme ‘nature needs you’ (awhinatia te taiao). On weekends (14-15 September & 21-22 September) our Wild Work Centre (Te Pokapū Puihi), located in the heart of Te Wao Nui, will come to life with fun activities for the whole whanau - from crafts like making seed bombs to story time at the takahē reading nook.

On weekends you can also visit the ‘Help Our Native Wildlife’ stand in our entry plaza for a chat and to find out how you can help more native wildlife to flourish in your own backyard and beyond. As part of this, we’ll be showcasing humane predator traps, giving demonstrations on how to use them, and offering them for sale at cost price.
